A classic wintry muddy pitch greeted RI for their first ever match against Leigh which inevitably made for a difficult game. The Leigh side played a slower, possession game - particularly the forwards who showed great strength in the scrum! Leigh might be bottom of the the league but scored two tries and made the RI speedsters work hard for their gaps out wide.
Ruth Laybourn managed another hat-trick of tries and converted two of them too! Alice Cook got on the scoreboard for the first time this season with a long run down the wing, being tenaciously chased by the defence the whole way and Anna Coombs scored a great try following good link work with Julie Pease. Looking forwards to the home game on the 6th April!
